Spin the wheel: a free classroom wheel spinner
Type a list, press Spin and the wheel lands on a random item. Take each one off after it lands so nobody gets picked twice, make it fullscreen for the board, and keep your list for next lesson. Free, with no signup.
Press Spin, or Enter.
Everything you type stays in this browser. Nothing is sent anywhere, and no names go into links.
How to use it
- Type or paste your list in the box, one item per line: names, questions, topics or rewards.
- Press Spin, or Enter. The result is shown and read out to screen readers.
- Tick Remove it after it lands to go round the class without repeats, and press Put them all back to start again.
- Press Fullscreen to show it on the board, and turn the sound off if you'd rather spin in silence.
Ways to use a wheel in class
- Who answers next: put the class on the wheel and spin before you ask, so everyone keeps thinking.
- Random questions: put six retrieval questions on the wheel for a quick starter.
- Pick a reader: spin for who reads the next paragraph aloud.
- Choose the task: put three or four activities on the wheel and let it decide the order.
- Brain breaks: stretch, star jumps, a quick game: spin for a one-minute break.
- Speaking prompts: topics for a 30-second talk, one spin per pair.
- Rewards: a few small, fair rewards for a team that finishes well.
Questions teachers ask
Is the wheel free?
Yes. It's free, with no signup and no limit on how often you spin.
Can I stop the same name coming up twice?
Yes. Tick Remove it after it lands, and each item comes off the wheel once it's picked.
Are the names I type sent anywhere?
No. Your list stays in this browser only. Nothing is sent to us or anyone else, and names are never put in a link.
Can I use it on the interactive whiteboard?
Yes. Press Fullscreen for large text on the board, and spin with a tap, a click or the Enter key.
Can I make a wheel of questions to play as a game?
Yes. Turn this list into a spin the wheel game opens your list in the Chalkplay editor, where you can save it as an activity and play it on the board as the Spin the wheel game.
Make it a game
Want a wheel of questions you can save and reuse? The Spin the wheel template makes it a classroom activity, and the same list plays as speaking cards or mystery boxes.
